Changes made to scene two when filming

Due to a lack of commitment from our actors and actresses we used three girls as the group of friends unlike the two girls and a boy that we planned for. This didnt make a big difference to the script as either gender could of played the part however in order to represent all types of social groups we wanted to include a boy. Another change that was made was that some addtional dialouge was added in for all audience member's to follow the sequence eaisly and for it to follow through. The dialouge that was added was:
"Happy halloween"
"Say happy hallween guys"
"Happy Halloween!"

Shooting scene two of the opening film sequence

We are planning to shoot scene two of the film in three days time this will be at a location called fresh water road. We chose this road as one member of the group lives their and we would need acess to a front door in order t o carry out the film making. Also its an easy place for everyone to meet up as it is not far from school for this scene four actors and actresses will be needed, three of which would be acting as a group of friends and one would be Harrison (Joe) the actor from the previous scene.

Time: 8.00pm - 9.30pm
Scene 2: The group of teenagers walking/their journey to the party
Actors on location: The group of teenagers and the main character Joe

Shooting the film sequence

Tomorrow we are hoping to film the first part of our opening sequence which will involve the a small child and our actor Harrison who is going to be playing the character that gets infected. I composed an email so that we had permission from his parents/guardians. However only three members of the group are going to be at the film shoot as one has a family commitment. Below I have the time and place of the shoot and I have devised a risk assessment of what could happen in certain situations. When conducting a risk assessment you have to consider all the likely hazards, who may be harmed, property which may be damaged, and the controls already in place. Then, for each likely hazard, bearing in mind the controls already in place I have recorded the ‘risk assessment’ level.

Time: 7.15pm - 8.30pm
Scene 1: Teenager sees the child in the middle of the road
Actors on location: Joe(the teenager)and the abandoned child.

Email that I composed to the parent of the child actor

As a child is going to be present in our opening film sequence it is in our groups’ best interest that he is safe. Below is a copy of the email that I created to ensure his parents and guardians were ok with the arrangements.

To whom it may concern
As you already know a group of students from Graveney School that do A-level media need a young child to take part in their opening film sequence. As he is only 4 years old we thought that it would be better if a parent or guardian accompanied him to the film location. We have already put in place a risk assessment and there will be many people present to ensure his safety and well being. We will be shooting at a location not far from Graveney School from 7.15pm till 8.30pm on the 21st of March on a private street, if you have any questions or queries please contact us and will get back in touch with you.

Possible Titles For The Opening Sequence

From brainstorming and dicussing the codes and conventions of a teen horror with zombie elments. Everyone had different ideas about what the title of the eopening sequence should be as we are targeting a teenage audience some members of the group felt that we should relate the title to something that intersted teenagers one of which being tv programmes, what they though would be able to connect to and what we as 16, and 17 year olds felt would make us want to watch a teen horror. We felt that at least one of the titles below would make help us to create a sucessful opening film sequence.

→ Inhumane
→ The end
→ The survival
→ The takeover
→ The only way is death
→ Afterlife
→ Zombie hype
→ Mortality existence
→ Catastrophe
→ Walking with the dead
→ Dead and loving it

Possible music/soundtracks to use in the opening sequence

The opening of our opening sequence starts with a child in the middle of a dark abondonded street as this will be seen through a cctv camera the picture may be fuzzy but the music will help to address the scene and connate to the audience the genre of the film. We were looking to use a creepy children's nursery rhyme, such as ring around the rosie. The nursery rhyme will try to convey a demonic yet innocent child to our teenage audience. Below are a few possible ideas that I came across when doing a YouTube search. However the problem with using music or sound tracks from YouTube is that they may be unlicensed so we would get in trouble for copyright but there are many ways to overcome this situation one is to get a child to sing a nursey rhyme and edit it on a music software such as garage band or use another website that allows us to download free music that could be used in our opeing sequence, or use a piece that someone created and upload on Youtube and add them to our credits to show that the music was not our own. Anyone of these can help us create a chilling erie effect that is needed in our opening sequence.

Ring around the rosie

Its Raining, Its Pouring

Itsy Bitsey Spider

A Creepy child noise

For the final product we decided not to use any of the sound/music tracks abvove as once they were all put in place they either sounded to repetive or did not fit what we had in mind. Instead we used diegetic music wich is a convention of a teen horror; a heartbeat. I feel that this was the best decision to make as it created pace and tension for te audience and it meant that they expected/realised that something bad was going to happen. Below is a you tube video that had a similar heartbeat sound to the one used in our opening film sequence.

Title Choice - Inhumane

After discussing both the positive and negative aspects of each title we decided to chose in humane. The english definition of inhumane is not being humane; lacking humanity, kindness and compassion. This explains the zombies in our film and as they don't realise what they are doing and lack humanity is a god description of what the audience should expect. The title could also signify how the teenagers drift apart and lack compassion as they all try and save themselves before their friends.

Possible ideas for props and costumes

Although we have a rather low budget for props and costumes we thought that to make the zombies look life like we would need face paints an dried blood examples of products that we can purchase are shown below. After brainstorming about how to make our actor's look as if they are real zombie's we thought that he had to have some different/wierd characterisitics that would potray this image, and then our group came up with the idea of having "abnormal eyes" andthis would be easy to represent if we bought contact lenses such as all black with a bright pupil or all white ect. Bleow are a number of images displpaying a range of contacts we could purchase. However one of our actors is only four years old and using contact lenses in his eyes could damage them and we would'nt want to take that risk so so we thought to make him look as life like as possible we would need face paints and fake blood. Examples of products that we can purchase are shown below in a slide show

Synopsis For the opening sequence (Final)

Its late at night and a small child is standing in the middle of a empty street. A young teenager walks up to the young boy to ask if he is lost as he is standing alone. Suddenly the child attacks the person as he is a zombie however the young teenager does not know this. When the child attacks the boy he bites him infecting him with his "illness" which turns him into a zombie". We are hoping to make it look as if it was shot through cctv camera.

It then cuts to the night of Halloween and three teenagers are on their way to a party. One of the friends is recording the event through their phone/handy camera. As one of the teenagers press the door bell they see their infected friend and realize he is a zombie and that the infection has spread throughout the party but will they be able survive their zombie town...

The Groups Free Periods

Below is a table show the free periods each person in our group has this means that at these times we do not have time tabled lessons so we are therefore able to use to time to complete tasks that need to be completed, have group decisions, or do independent work on our blogs.  This table was devised because in orer to create a sucessful opening film sequence we have to be able to meet up with one another. This table can help us with our work load and ensure that every member of the group is putting in as much effort as possible and turning up to every scheduled meeting
